Job Summary:
The Research Engineer will work to develop and evaluate new methods, materials, or production processes for products or applications.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May train engineers and technicians on research procedures and processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with a team to investigate, research, and/or develop solutions for a problem or project.
- Participates in the research process from problem identification through final testing for products or processes.
- Gathers data, takes samples, and makes observations to understand, improve, and/or develop a product or process.
- Proposes, tests, revises, and implements processes and/or corrective actions to resolve or meet the problem or need.
- Tests processes using prototype equipment and experimental materials and methods.
- Interprets data gathered from test results and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Verifies results for accuracy, significance, and reliability.
- Drafts and presents recommendations and results.
- Maintains testing equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of the scientific process and engineering principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used for testing and reporting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required; Masters degree highly preferred.
- At least five years of experience in related field required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
