Job Summary:
The Supply Technician will be responsible for hospital supplies in the central supply facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Distributes supplies to departments.
- Understands the medical center's purchasing policies including knowledge of vendors, instruments and supplies, and shipping and receiving procedures.
- Maintains daily, monthly, and yearly inventory control reports for supplies and instruments.
- Maintains dating system for recall of supplies according to limit of shelf life.
- Monitors technical aspects of sterilization including daily charting of sterilization reports and adheres to hospital's infection control policies.
- Processes supply requests in a prompt, cooperative, and efficient manner.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interact with all levels of staff in the facility.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Training as nurse's aide, lab assistant, or similar field a plus.
- Minimum of one year of experience with medical supplies, equipment, and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting up to 50 pounds, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires vision and hearing corrected within normal range.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of times to store, retrieve, and deliver supplies.
- Possible exposure to toxic substances ionizing radiation, and medicinal preparations. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
