Bindery Operator




Job Summary:

The Bindery Operator will run and maintain machines that bind printed pages to produce books, magazines, catalogs, and other publications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates machinery to cut, fold, glue, trim, bind, and finish the final printed product.
  • Reads work orders and sets the machine in accordance with job specifications.
  • Completes trial run and evaluates the quality and appearance of the product.
  • Adjusts machinery as needed prior to starting the project.
  • Ensures that companys safety regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Ensures that binding machines are in proper working order.
  • Sends completed orders to shipping department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot problems with machinery.
  • Ability to work with stamping, trimming, pressing, and binding machines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read work orders and follow instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous related experience preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing during machine operation and working in a loud environment.
  • Must be physically able to operate and repair machine, which may involve bending, squatting, and crawling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at a time.
