SHRM Members Meet with New York State Lawmakers

SHRM, in collaboration with the New York SHRM State Council, proudly hosted its Second Annual New York State Advocacy Day in Albany on Feb. 25. Members from across the state met with key legislators to discuss meaningful policy solutions focused on responsible AI development and regulations, thoughtful approaches to noncompete agreements, and expanding opportunities for untapped talent pools.
Emily M. Dickens, SHRM’s Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs also met directly with several state officials, including Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Deputy Majority Leader Mike Gianaris, Senator Sean Ryan, and Senator Roxanne Persaud, as well as Assembly Members Jodi Giglio and Crystal Peoples-Stokes.
With workplace policies evolving rapidly, HR professionals must remain engaged year-round. Whether by connecting with policymakers, participating in SHRM’s advocacy initiatives, or staying informed through SHRM’s resources, every HR professional can make an impact. Together, we are strengthening workplaces, supporting employees, and shaping policies that build a better world.
