Urge Congress to Pass Legislation Critical to the Workforce
SHRM encourages you to contact your members of Congress to urge them to pass two critical, bipartisan pieces of legislation that would help the American workforce before the end of the year.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is the foundation of workforce development investments at the federal level. Reauthorizing WIOA is a crucial step to addressing workforce shortages. It will help both HR professionals and workers facilitate skills-based hiring and support employer-led upskilling efforts.
The Telehealth Expansion Act would permanently extend pre-deductible coverage of telehealth services for workers with high-deductible health plans and health savings accounts (HDHP-HSAs), which is scheduled to expire Dec. 31, 2024. Given the rapid growth in demand for telehealth, this legislation’s permanent extension of pre-deductible coverage for high-deductible health plans will give employers flexibility and help ensure their employees have access to critical health care, including mental health services.
These critical, bipartisan bills are important to ensuring the well-being of our workforce so U.S. employees are prepared to effectively compete in the world economy.
Call on your lawmaker to pass these bills today.
