This spreadsheet contains formulas to calculate an organization's vacancy rate resulting from both employee turnover and the addition of new positions. It also calculates the vacancy cost of having work completed in the absence of the former employee or employees, less wages and benefits that are not being paid for the vacant position. These formulas can be used to calculate these rates for one position, a class code, a division or the entire organization.
