Insurance Transcriptionist




Job Summary:

The Insurance Transcriptionist will transcribe dictation from tape and produce legally acceptable text data of claimant and witness statements and interviews, and investigators audio file summary reports.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Transcribes dictation from investigators into letter or report form using a computer word processing program.
  • Operates optical scan recognition machine to enter corporate text or insurance industry technical information into a computer data bank.
  • Maintains a high level of accuracy and confidentiality needed for legally binding documents.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Completion of transcription classes highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
