Petroleum Engineer




Job Summary:

The Petroleum Engineer will research, develop, and implement methods to improve oil and gas drilling, extraction, and production.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and/or oversees the installation, maintenance, and operation of oil field equipment.
  • Assesses the economic value and extraction cost of oil and gas wells and determines the economic feasibility of potential drilling sites.
  • Researches and recommends best practices, including placement of wells, to increase production.
  • Forecasts product recovery and treatment.
  • Drafts and prepares plans for oil and gas field drilling.
  • Collaborates with engineering and technical staff to address design, research, and testing problems.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to other departments and staff with questions and problems related to drilling operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • At least five years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse various types of terrain at drilling sites.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
