International Labour Organization

The International Labour Organization (ILO), is the only tripartite U.N. agency since 1919, bringing together governments, employers and workers of 187 member states to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programs promoting decent work for all women and men. ILO’s main focus revolves around the promotion of rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protections and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.

The ILO’s unique tripartite structure is able to provide an equal voice to workers, employers and governments to ensure that the views of the social partners are closely reflected in labour standards and in shaping policies and programs.

ILO Commission's Future of Work Report 2019

The International Labor Organization (ILO) launched its Global Commission's report on January 22, 2019, with a focus on a "human-centered" agenda for the future of work. The report calls for Governments, employers and workers organizations to reboot the social contract to meet the challenges of the future, and examines issues such as the future of work, workflex, apprenticeships, the skills-gap, diversity and inclusion, among others—to better adjust to the current world of work.
