SHRM Now Offering People Analytics Specialty Credential

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has introduced a new professional development program for human resource professionals, the SHRM People Analytics Specialty Credential. By earning this credential, recipients demonstrate that they have the foundational knowledge and analytics literacy to examine relevant, real-world business issues and effectively communicate data-supported recommendations to their organizations.

“People analytics is rapidly becoming an indispensable competency for today’s HR professionals,” said Nick Schacht, SHRM-SCP, SHRM’s chief global development officer. “SHRM’s new People Analytics Specialty Credential is designed to give HR practitioners a firm foundation in the principles and applications of metrics and technology that support HR practices and organizational objectives. This is the latest in our growing line of specialty credentials that provide clarity, perspective and depth on today’s most important HR topics.”

Candidates would need to purchase a learning package that includes enrollment in the SHRM seminar “People Analytics: Taking Data-Driven Action,” which is available in person or virtually, and must complete three comprehensive SHRM eLearning courses: “Foundational Data Literacy,” “The Metrics Behind People Analytics” and “Analyzing People Data.” Once candidates pass a 50-question online people analytics knowledge assessment, they are awarded the SHRM People Analytics Specialty Credential.

Candidates are not required to hold a SHRM certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) to earn the specialty credential. However, those who complete the program will receive 22 professional development credits toward their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP recertification.
