Senate Confirms NLRB Nominees, Restoring Board Quorum
The Senate confirmed a series of nominees en bloc, meaning it considered and approved multiple nominations together in a single vote. As a result, the Senate confirmed the president’s nominees to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) (NLRB) as members—James Murphy and Scott Mayer—restoring the NLRB to a quorum. In the same vote, the Senate confirmed Crystal Carey as the agency’s general counsel.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency responsible for safeguarding employees’ rights to organize and to choose whether to be represented by a union. The agency also investigates, prevents, and remedies unfair labor practices committed by private-sector employers and labor organizations.
