Senate Panel to Hold Hearing on Labor, EEOC Nominees
As Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer continues to shape the Department of Labor’s (DOL’s) agenda and policy priorities, several key nominees for positions at DOL and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) are scheduled for a confirmation hearing June 18 before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
The nominees are:
· Andrea Lucas – Nominated for reappointment to the EEOC, where she currently serves as a Republican commissioner and acting chair.
· Andrew Rogers – Nominated to serve as administrator of the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division. He currently serves as acting general counsel at the EEOC.
· Jonathan Berry – Nominated as solicitor of Labor, the department’s top legal officer. He previously held senior policy roles at DOL and brings extensive regulatory experience.
· Anthony D’Esposito – Nominated to serve as the DOL inspector general. A former U.S. representative from New York, he would oversee audits and investigations across the department.
These roles are critical to the interpretation, enforcement, and oversight of federal labor laws, and the confirmation of these nominees will help shape how these agencies implement policies impacting employers and the workplace.
SHRM will continue monitoring these developments and provide updates to support HR professionals navigating the evolving federal landscape.
