SHRM Begins Strategic Membership Partnership to Advance HR in Africa
On Oct. 22, SHRM announced a landmark membership partnership with three national HR associations in Africa: the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (Ghana), the Tanzania Human Resource and Administration Professionals Association, and the Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe.
This initiative aims to provide HR professionals across the continent with access to SHRM’s research, certification, and professional development resources. The partnership builds on SHRM’s engagement through the Global Conference on Human Resources in Africa (GCHRA) in Accra, Ghana, which convenes HR leaders, business executives, and technology innovators to explore global workforce trends.
Emily M. Dickens, J.D., SHRM chief of staff and head of government affairs, emphasized the significance of this effort. “Africa is rapidly emerging as the next global economic frontier, driven by its dynamic workforce,” she said. “By providing access to SHRM’s resources, we can support HR leaders in shaping the future of work across the continent.”
