SHRM Brings Employer Perspective to Big Sky Labor & Employment Conference
The Big Sky Labor & Employment Conference brings together leaders representing employees, employers, and other perspectives to discuss some of the most complex labor and employment issues facing workplaces today. The annual conference in Big Sky, Montana, is designed to foster dialogue across differing viewpoints and identify potential solutions to shared workforce challenges.
At this year’s conference, SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, joined leaders from across the labor, business, and policy communities for a wide-ranging discussion on the issues shaping work today and the decisions leaders will face in the years ahead.
Taylor participated in the panel, “The Washington Policy Environment – Elections and Labor and Employment Issues,” alongside Wells King, Special Assistant to the President and Policy Director to the Vice President, Rachel Lyons of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW), Matthew Haller of the International Franchise Association (IFA), and Roy Houseman of the United Steelworkers (USW). The conversation addressed workforce training and apprenticeships, artificial intelligence, labor regulation, recruiting challenges, and the changing federal policy environment.
The discussion underscored the value of listening, understanding where viewpoints differ, and focusing on solutions to complex workplace challenges. As Taylor reflected following the conference, the future of work will not be built by one perspective. It will be built by leaders willing to have the conversations that move us forward.
