SHRM Holds Inaugural Executive Dinner on Workforce Development
SHRM recently hosted its inaugural executive dinner in Washington D.C., bringing together a select group of cross-sector leaders committed to advancing workforce development solutions nationwide.
Conversation at the dinner was sparked by SHRM President and Chief Executive Officer Johnny C. Taylor, Jr.’s Feb. 5 congressional testimony, in which he asked, “Imagine what we could be if we unleashed the power of talent?” Taylor underscored the urgent need to modernize and strengthen the U.S. education-to-employment pipeline and called for the creation of a national strategy to better align education with workforce demands.
Over the course of the evening, participants explored how strategic partnerships and data-driven policy solutions can better align education systems with the needs of today’s labor market.
This gathering marked an important step in SHRM’s ongoing effort to shape a future-ready workforce and elevate employer voices in policy discussions that impact talent, training, and access to opportunity.
