SHRM Launches E² Initiative Website
SHRM has launched a digital home for its E² (Education-to-Employment) Initiative, aimed at strengthening the connection between education systems and workforce needs.
The strategic initiative was introduced during the SHRM25 opening general session by Emily M. Dickens, J.D., SHRM chief of staff, head of Government Affairs, and corporate secretary. It builds on the testimony of SHRM President and Chief Executive Officer Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, who earlier this year appeared before the U.S. House Committee on Education and Workforce. In his remarks, Taylor described the current talent pipeline as “leaky, busted, and broken,” underscoring the need to reimagine how learning connects to work.
The E² Initiative focuses on bridging three key pathways: K-12 education, higher education, and untapped talent. At its core, E² is about breaking down silos — between education, employment, and opportunity — and advancing practical solutions that work across sectors.
The new E² website will offer tools, resources, and engagement opportunities organized around three pillars: awareness, advocacy, and action.
Visitors to the site can:
- Learn more about the disconnect between education and workforce readiness.
- Take action through SHRM’s public policy and community engagement tools.
- Share successful strategies to help scale solutions.
SHRM is committed to driving cross-sector collaboration that strengthens talent pipelines and prepares individuals to thrive in the modern workforce.
Visit the E² website and learn how to get involved.
