SHRM ADVOCACY ALERT
Urge Congress to Avoid a Government Shutdown & Prioritize Civility
SHRM encourages you to contact your lawmakers in Congress and urge them to avoid a government shutdown and minimize the impact on our nation’s workforce.
While Congress passed a first round of spending bills to keep the government funded for some essential services, they still face a critical deadline of March 22 to avoid a lapse in funding and a potential government shutdown.
The world of work depends on a high level of certainty, and that includes from the federal government. To provide this, SHRM urges Congress to follow “regular order” to ensure that legislative guardrails and procedures are followed to reduce the frequency of government shutdowns and finalize uncompleted legislative appropriations.
Civility is essential for effective governance. SHRM remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing sensible public policies through our steadfast commitment to Policy, Not Politics.
