35% of hiring managers have seen candidates use AI during interviews. 31% suspect they've interviewed an impersonator, and 18% suspect a deepfake. (1) And it doesn't stop at hiring: 52% of employees admit to using AI to complete mandatory training.(2) Most hiring happens over video now. "Invisible" AI assistants feed candidates answers in real time, remote-access software lets someone else take the assessment, and deepfakes can change their voice or face. None of these requires technical skill, and all of them make it harder to know who you're hiring and whether they can do the job. The result: you can't be sure who you're hiring or whether they can do the job, and a fraudulent hire can walk away with access to your systems and data.
