Research indicates that many workers believe they need $1.25 million to retire comfortably. Meanwhile, healthcare costs continue to escalate. So how can employees better prepare for retirement?

One answer is the Health Savings Account (HSA), a unique savings and spending plan.

Making the most of an HSA at every stage of an employee’s career involves understanding its distinctive benefits and strategically using these benefits to maximize savings and tax advantages.

    Brian Hutchin

    Brian Hutchin is Executive Vice President and Director of UMB Healthcare Services. With more than 25 years of financial industry experience, he is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the Healthcare team, including sales, implementation, and relationship management. Additionally, Hutchin serves as an executive team member for the Institutional Banking division, providing input on the strategic direction of the department and overall growth of the business. Previously, Hutchin was Executive Vice President, Director of National Sales and Strategy for UMB Healthcare Services. He played a critical role in overhauling the strategy and approach in the consumer-directed healthcare accounts space. Prior to that role, he served as Executive Vice President, Director of National Corporate, Treasury, Card Sales and Service at UMB. He is also a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP®). Hutchin is a former recipient of the UMB Leadership Award as well as Ingram Magazine’s 40 Under 40 distinction. He currently serves as treasurer of the board of directors for the Employers Council on Flexible Compensation (ECFC), a nonprofit organization supporting tax-advantaged benefit programs that facilitate choice for employers and their employees.

    Kelly Eschweiler

    Kelly Eschweiler is Senior Vice President and Director of Associate Experience and Rewards for UMB Financial Corporation, a full-service financial provider for commercial, institutional and personal clients across the United States. In this role, Eschweiler has the privilege of getting to lead the compensation, benefits, HR systems, and internal communication teams. These areas significantly impact UMB’s ability to create compelling rewards and experiences for our associates. Along with her team, she plans, designs, evaluates and administers associate compensation and benefit programs such as salaries, short- and long-term incentives, retirement plans, life, health, and disability insurance, and wellbeing efforts. Eschweiler has been associated with the Human Resources and Financial Services industries for the past 14 years. In addition to leading the associate experience and rewards function at UMB, she also serves as an executive committee member on the KU Edwards Workforce Development Advisory Board. She has served as a mentor for the American Corporate Partners. Eschweiler is passionate about the women’s employment network and has actively been involved since 2017, and she currently serves on their board.
