This program features James Atkinson, Ph.D., Vice President of Thought Leadership at SHRM and Patti Cuthill, SHRM-SCP, Vice President of People and Culture at Verve, and they’ll will discuss the 2026 CHRO Priorities and Perspectives report. The findings provide a comprehensive view of the strategies shaping the 2026 HR agenda and offer actionable insights to help HR leaders and HR professionals guide their organizations toward sustained success.

Patti Cuthill
Patti Cuthill, SHRM-SCP, is Vice President of People and Culture at Verve where she helps build and nurture a positive work environment valued by all Verve employees. Since joining Verve she has lead culture transformation efforts that has resulted in Verve achieving Top 10 Best Places to Work by the San Diego Business Journal for 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, Fortune Best Small and Medium Workplaces 2020, 2022, and Great Place to Work Certified 2020-2026. Prior to joining Verve, Cuthill held leadership roles in HR for CPU Medical Management, Rock Cancer CARE, CliniComp International, Rock Church & Academy, and Comic-Con. She also served in the U.S. Navy. She is a Certified Clifton Strength Coach. She is also an instructor for Designing Exceptional Organization Cultures at UCSD Extended Studies. Cuthill is the Immediate Past President of San Diego SHRM and currently serves as Deputy State Director for SHRM California.

James Atkinson
James Atkinson, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Thought Leadership at SHRM, where he leads research teams uncovering key insights on the challenges and trends affecting HR and the workplace. Atkinson joined SHRM with more than 15 years of research, data, and product experience, having spent a decade in various leadership roles within the HR industry. Prior to SHRM, Atkinson was the Vice President of Data Products at Payscale, where he was responsible for the overall strategy, development, and delivery of data products for compensation professionals.

Victoria Collar
Victoria Collar, SHRM-SCP, is Director, Knowledge Community and Operations at SHRM. Collar brings over 20 years of extensive experience in human resources, business development, operations, and leadership, with a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. Her career includes serving as an HR department of one, scaling HR functions, and as an HR Business Partner for global customer experience centers with brands including Marriott, Clover/CGD Hospitality and Founding Farmers. She has designed M&A and growth strategies, built remote engagement plans, and championed enterprise-wide change initiatives. Collar has a passion for developing high-performing teams, cultivating talent, and aligning people/culture strategy with business outcomes across all stages of the organizational life cycle. She holds the SHRM-SCP as well as the Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications. She lives in North Bethesda, MD and in her downtime, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and exploring the museums in Washington DC.
