Automotive Engineering Technician




Job Summary:

The Automotive Engineering Technician will assist the Automotive Engineers by conducting inspections, tests, and data analysis needed to identify and resolve safety, performance, efficiency, and quality issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs automotive system or component tests to determine performance, durability, and efficiency.
  • Gathers and analyzes test data for related systems and parts.
  • Determines the cause and nature of defects through inspections and testing.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, charts, and schematics related to automotive engineering projects.
  • Reports suggested improvements based on data, observations, and analyzations of both.
  • Creates or modifies prototype components.
  • Maintains and monitors manual and computer testing equipment, supplies, and replacement parts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely accurate.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Proficient in related computer software and technologies including Microsoft Office Suite, CAD and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient understanding of mathematics.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and installation or modification duties.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; Associates degree in automotive engineering technology highly desired.
  • Three years of experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
