Job Summary:

The Precision Agriculture Technician will apply technology to improve agricultural activities including pesticide application, herbicide application, and irrigation.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develops and analyzes computer-based maps and images to research soils, fertilizers, pests, weather, and other agricultural elements.
• Evaluates materials that affect soil characteristics and drainage patterns.
• Uses geospatial technology to create soil sample grids.
• Uses global positioning systems (GPS) to improve and automate agricultural activities and processes.
• Creates yield maps based on harvester monitor data.
• Applies crop scouting data to programmable agricultural equipment including pesticide and herbicide sprayers.
• Reviews collected agricultural data; recommends appropriate crops to plant in specified areas based on data analysis.
• Drafts and distributes reports of findings on field productivity and profitability.
• Performs other related duties as required.

• Proficient with GPS and agricultural hardware, software, systems, and applications.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Business, or a related field required.
• Three years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Physically able to traverse various types of terrain while conducting field research.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
