Job Summary:
The Dry Cleaning Operator will set up and operate machinery to wash or dry-clean clothing, blankets, rugs, and other items.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Labels items upon receipt and includes cleaning instructions with items.
- Removes spots and stains using appropriate solvents, chemicals, detergents, or other cleaning agents.
- Operates dry cleaning machines, washers, and dryers.
- Cleans, presses, irons, and steams clothing and other fabric items.
- Hangs or folds items when cleaning process is complete.
- Labels items when ready for pickup or delivery.
- Inspects machinery and performs maintenance when necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read customer instructions regarding requested cleaning methods and stain removal.
- Ability to read and follow manuals for use of cleaning agents.
- Ability to operate washing machines, dryers, and dry-cleaning equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to learn software used to prepare cleaning tickets.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous related experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and working in hot, humid environment.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time to load and unload items.
