Job Summary:
The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic will repair and maintain ground support vehicles and equipment in an airport.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Repairs and services tow tractors, baggage carts, buses, trucks, and service vans.
- Maintains heavy equipment that includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery.
- Inspects ground support vehicles and equipment to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Troubleshoots issues or problems with vehicles and machinery as necessary to make repairs.
- Schedules periodic maintenance for ground support vehicles and equipment.
- Maintains a clean and safe repair shop.
- Tracks inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains repair log for vehicles and equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools to repair ground support vehicles and equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read repair manuals for various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous related experience preferred.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on vehicles and equipment.
- Must be physically able to access vehicles and equipment either by kneeling or lying on back.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
