Job Summary:
The Locksmith will install, repair, and maintain locks, keys, and security systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Installs locks, hardware, and security systems in existing buildings and new construction.
- Disassembles and troubleshoots problems with locks and hardware.
- Repairs existing locks and hardware.
- Re-keys and replaces locks and hardware as needed.
- Unlocks car doors for customers.
- Cuts new keys and makes duplicate keys.
- Ensures security systems are working correctly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of locks, hardware, and security systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use power tools and hand tools.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship preferred.
- Background check required.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to install and repair locks and related hardware.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
