Printing Press Operator




Job Summary:

The Printing Press Operator will produce published materials by operating and maintaining printing presses.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Operates printing press to produce published materials including newspapers and magazines.
  • Reviews job requirements to understand the scope and parameters of print jobs.
  • Prepares, aligns, and configures machinery, ink, rollers, and paper.
  • Inspects proof sheets to evaluate the quality of printing.
  • Adjusts press machinery to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies needed to operate printing presses.
  • Troubleshoots issues with printing press and makes basic repairs.
  • Performs routine maintenance on presses.
  • Informs supervisor of problems with equipment or materials.
  • Drafts and submits reports for daily production totals.
  • Maintains a clean area around printing machinery.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical school training preferred; on-the-job training provided.
  • Previous related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to operate printing presses.
  • Able to bend or kneel frequently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
