Job Summary:
The Public Works Inspector will inspect new construction, maintenance, and repairs on and to the citys roads, drainage and sewer systems, and related facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the assignments, scheduling, and work quality of contractors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Investigates complaints regarding road conditions, drainage or sewer systems, or other municipal works; schedules and coordinates maintenance and repairs.
- Reviews plans for new construction of and repairs to existing roads and road surfaces.
- Reviews plans for sewer systems and expansions; issues permits.
- Inspects construction in progress; reports any issues or variance to the contractor, city engineer, health department, and other stakeholders.
- Serves as a liaison between engineers and contractors.
- Examines road repairs completed by utility companies or other third parties for compliance with plans and specifications.
- Ensures that building plans, materials, safety procedures, and other variables follow federal, state, and city codes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Five years of experience in road construction or sewer construction required.
- Experience in inspection work preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Physically able to inspect road and sewer construction and systems.
- Ability to traverse various terrains to conduct inspections.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds at a time.
