Job Summary:

The School System Business Director will manage the districts educational budget to provide quality education to the districts schools with the financial resources available.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the daily workflow of the school systems financial operations and related support staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Oversees the financial operations of the school system.
• Prepares reports for the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.
• Collaborates with the Superintendent of Schools to prepare the annual budget for the district; presents budget to city officials and community stakeholders at regular budget hearings.
• Researches and makes recommendations for cost-effective health benefits, workers compensation insurance, retirement plans, and related expenditures to the Board of Education.
• Ensures district compliance with applicable financial regulations.
• Assists with long-range planning for future capital expenditures and projects such as school expansion, construction, and renovation.
• Supervises preparation of financial reports and documentation required to receive state and federal funding.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required; Masters degree highly preferred.
• At least five years of administrative experience required, school management highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
