The White House on July 23 issued an AI Action Plan that aims to empower U.S. workers in the age of AI, training a skilled workforce for AI infrastructure, and removing red tape and "onerous" regulation.
The plan identifies more than 90 federal policy actions across three pillars — accelerating innovation, building U.S. infrastructure, and leading in international diplomacy and security — the Trump administration will take in the coming weeks and months.
“The president’s plan is not just about technology — but about people,” said Emily M. Dickens, J.D., SHRM chief of staff, head of government affairs, and corporate secretary, in a SHRM press statement. “The emphasis is on a worker-first approach that addresses American competitiveness in an AI-driven workforce. The plan reflects a fundamental truth that SHRM has long championed: technology alone does not move the workplace forward — people do.”
President Donald Trump will speak about his plans for AI oversight and development at a summit today. This is a developing story.
