Job Summary:
The Credit Management Trainee learns the companys credit management function by working on financial and credit management projects in a supervised capacity prior to assignment as a credit manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Completes training and development program to gain an understanding of credit management processes and procedures.
- Learns procedures for tracking accounts that have been deemed delinquent and for contacting clients to negotiate payments.
- Researches and verifies backgrounds and credit history of individuals and companies.
- With guidance and supervision, contacts and discusses payments directly with clients.
- Learns process for referring accounts to outside collection agency for further collection efforts.
- Issues invoices and tracks payments.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic understanding of state and federal laws pertaining to collection activities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
- Ability to exercise integrity and discretion.
- Ability to remain professional in confrontational situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management preferred.
- At least two years of prior collections experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
