Job Summary:
The Funeral Arrangements Supervisor will oversee all aspects of funeral arrangements including service and viewing times and locations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the work of housekeeping and maintenance staff.
- Schedules regular and special hours for housekeeping and paid pallbearer staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meets with Funeral Director to understand necessary preparations for times and rooms to be used for family and public during visitation and services.
- Meets with the deceaseds family and friends concerning special details for the service such as displays of mementos, photographs, or other special decorations.
- Prepares receiving rooms before viewings including casket and floral setup, visitors book, and other previously agreed-upon items.
- Cleans receiving room after the viewing ends, ensuring items are returned to the family and directions are followed concerning floral arrangements.
- Provides assistance and comfort to the families and friends of the deceased throughout process.
- Manages phone calls and greets visitors as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent management and coordination skills.
- Ability to project care and concern at all times.
- Basic understanding of funeral procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure rooms are cleaned and items are arranged in ways that provide comfort to families and friends.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of previous experience overseeing maintenance and housekeeping staff, preferably at a similar business, highly desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to provide physical assistance as required to visitors.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, and perform other movements necessary in cleaning and arranging rooms.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
