Job Summary:
The Information Technology Trainer will assess departmental and organizational training needs and then develop, deliver, and implement ongoing training for computer users as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assesses need for computer or software training in the organization. Training needs may include support for new hires, for employees in new roles or with new assignments, and for organization-wide training on new software, programs, or company-wide information technology (IT) system changes or policies.
- Develops training courses and materials to be used in workshop, group, and one-on-one training sessions.
- Assesses participants learning performance; identifies need for additional, specialized, or adaptive instruction.
- Maintains records of completed training.
- Maintains current knowledge of IT system modifications, development of new software programs or services, and other pertinent changes that may drive training needs.
- Maintains hardware and software used for training purposes.
- Provides feedback to product and software development staff when modifications could improve user-friendliness of the programs, applications, and processes for which training is provided.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of a good range of computer software including word processing and desktop publishing, databases and spreadsheets, accounting programs, and use of the internet.
- Ability to patiently explain technical material to less technically proficient users.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the IT team.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field, required.
- At least two years of experience in training required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to observe trainees performance on the computer.
