Occupational Health Nurse




Job Summary:

The Occupational Health Nurse will provide professional support to employee health programs, company loss-control programs, and in-plant medical assistance programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a resource on health matters, reviewing such items as physicians' reports on employee health, workers' compensation insurance claims, medical restrictions on employee work, and the policies and procedures of the medical department. Assists employees who are injured or become ill at work.
  • Performs pre-employment health screening.
  • Conducts health clinics including blood pressure screening, diabetes testing, and immunization clinics.
  • Performs audiometric testing, establishing baseline data and performing annual follow-up testing.
  • Trains and offers medical supervision to company first-aid teams. Assists with the hearing conservation program and eye protection programs, assuring that protective equipment is appropriate and properly used.
  • Establishes and maintains medical department records.
  • Carries out studies and investigations on health or safety-related questions and prepares reports, summaries, and recommendations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Registered nurse (RN) in the state required.
  • Up to one year of successful clinical experience required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing and bending.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
