Job Summary:
The Rental Clerk will assist customers with product rentals including identifying useful products available for rent and reserving, renting, or returning those items.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consults with customers to understand their needs; recommends appropriate products.
- Answers inquiries regarding product options, availability, cost, and lengths of rentals.
- Reserves items and maintains records of reservations.
- Completes or acquires forms and supplemental documentation such as licenses or proof of insurance.
- Explains rental policies to customers and obtains signatures indicating their understanding.
- Explains proper use and care of products to customers.
- Records customer orders; collects deposits, rental fees, and other payments at rental or return.
- Retrieves merchandise for customer, assists with loading equipment, and restocks returned products.
- Inspects products on return to ensure items are clean, in good repair, and, when applicable, refilled or otherwise maintained according to rental agreement.
- Identifies and tags products that need to be repaired, cleaned, or modified before being restocked.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in sales or customer service preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking around rental facility.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds at a time.
