Chipotle Leaders Discuss Workplace Culture, Resiliency at SHRM21 Happening Now in Las Vegas

Las Vegas – The SHRM21 (the Society for Human Resource Management) Annual Conference & Expo is happening now virtually and in-person at the Las Vegas Convention Center as leaders inspire and create new possibilities within the workplace. Today's highlights included Chipotle Mexican Grill's Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol and Chief Diversity, Inclusion and People Officer Marissa Andrada live on the SHRM21 Main Stage in a discussion on workplace culture, resiliency, talent strategies and the crucial partnership between a CEO and HR.
"It is our job as HR professionals to be sympatico with the leader that we support," said Andrada. "Forging that partnership from the beginning is critical to achieving success for your organization."
From the pandemic to sweeping changes in the workplace, there has never been a more challenging, or exciting, time to be an HR professional. Top talent management is needed now more than ever as we face a turnover tsunami, with over 40% of U.S. workers (41%) actively searching for a new job right now, or planning to—and 1 in 3 companies facing difficulties with company culture.
While 72% of executives – vice president and above – believe their overall organizational culture has improved since the beginning of the pandemic, few HR professionals (21%) and working Americans (14%) would agree according to new SHRM research released at SHRM21. HR professionals and other employees indicate issues with communication, altered workloads and employees voluntarily leaving their companies as primary reasons for negative changes in workplace culture during the pandemic.
Throughout the conference, SHRM will release additional research with in-person sessions on Employee Benefits DEI and financial wellness, as well as the Great Resignation. Attendees can also tune into an EEOC Listening Session on the future of equitable workplaces.
The SHRM21 Annual Conference & Expo continues tomorrow with World Champion swimmer Michael Phelps and SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, in conversation about leadership, discipline, mental health challenges, and what it takes to maintain a champion's mindset.
