ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Today, SHRM, the trusted authority on all things work, workers, and the workplace, is proud to announce that Jim Link, Chief Human Resources Officer at SHRM, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Murray State University. The award recognizes Murray State alumni who have made meaningful contributions to their professions at the local, state, and national level.
Link earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Murray State University. Since graduating, he has built a distinguished career spanning multiple industries, including roles at General Electric, the Pillsbury Company, Porsche Cars, and Randstad, before joining SHRM as CHRO. Today, he serves as a globally recognized thought leader on the future of work, artificial intelligence in the workplace, employee well-being, and organizational culture.
"I am truly honored to receive this recognition from Murray State University," said Link. "The foundation I built during my time as a Racer has shaped everything I've accomplished in my career, and I am deeply grateful to my alma mater for this distinction."
At SHRM, Link leads human resources strategy for an organization with more than 340,000 members around the world. He regularly shares his expertise with audiences across North America, India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, addressing topics such as workforce dynamics, leadership development, and the evolving role of technology in human capital management (HCM).
The Murray State University Alumni Association has presented the Distinguished Alumni Award since 1962. It represents the highest honor the Alumni Association can bestow upon a graduate. Link is among four Distinguished Alumni honorees for 2026, who will be celebrated at the annual Distinguished Alumni dinner and banquet in April.
