If you have any questions regarding your J-1 Visa training program you may contact us via telephone at 703-842-5116 or via e-mail at EVP@shrm.org.

In the event of an emergency, any J-1 trainee or intern currently sponsored by SHRM or by the former Council for Global Immigration can also utilize SHRM's 24-hour J-1 participant emergency line at 1-888-330-4686.

SHRM Exchange Visitor Program Team

Judit Markarian

Judit Markarian, Lead, Responsible Officer

Judit brings a wealth of experience to the SHRM Exchange Visitor Program. She previously worked with international students and exchange visitors at the University of Maryland. She handled J-1 visa compliance issues at both the American Institute for Foreign Study and Cultural Vistas. She has also worked in partnership and corporate account management in Silicon Valley and in information management at Lexis Nexis in Washington. D.C. Judit also taught English. among other responsibilities, at Northern Virginia Community College. Originally from Budapest, Hungary, Judit is fluent in Hungarian, proficient in German, and knows basic Russian. She holds a master's from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's from California Polytechnic State University.

Katelyn Mensah

Katelyn Mensah, Senior Coordinator, Alternate Responsible Officer

Katie is the newest member of the J-1 team. She serves as a Senior Coordinator for the Exchange Visitor Program managing international exchange operations for SHRM partners. Katie has a background in Marketing Research/Strategy and Inbound/Outbound International Education Operations. She graduated from Howard University with a Political Science (International Affairs) and French degree. In her free time, Katie enjoys going to concerts and learning new languages.

Kimberly Nguyen,

Kimberly Nguyen, Senior Coordinator, Alternate Responsible Officer

As Senior Coordinator and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), Ms. Kimberly Nguyen works to support the needs of the intern and trainee programs. Ms. Nguyen comes to SHRM with 4 years of experience in international exchange and program administration. She previously administered the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to hundreds of participants across multiple time zones and professional disciplines. Prior to this, she completed a fellowship at the Business Council for International Understanding. Ms. Nguyen holds a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Delaware. She is fluent in Spanish and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina while volunteering in the Maquinista de Savio province.

Jerrika Anderson Edwards

Yohan Kim, Senior Coordinator, Alternate Responsible Officer

Mr. Yohan Kim joined the SHRM Exchange Visitor Program in January 2024. Yohan will serve as the Senior Coordinator, managing a portfolio of intern and trainee programs. Prior to taking on this role, Yohan worked with a J-1 visa recruitment organization in Seoul, facilitating professional development and training opportunities for emerging professionals and college graduates, and provided administrative support to the Consul General of South Korea in Washington, DC. Yohan was born and raised in NYC and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the City University of New York.
