Recertification will be required every three years, before each cycle end date. Professionals will need to earn 60 professional development credits (PDCs), within their recertification cycle begin and end dates, in order to recertify. Recertification credits will be awarded for the PDC categories of Advance Your Education, Advance Your Profession and/or Advance Your Organization.

Your initial recertification cycle begins the day you pass the exam and ends 3-years later on the last day of your birth month. After the completion of your initial cycle, your next cycle (and those following) will begin the day after your completed file is submitted and approved. The same end date as stated above applies.

To document PDC's for participating in an HR survey, follow the steps below:
1. Login to the
SHRM Certification Portal with your e-mail address and password.
2. Select "Add PDCs", then select "Advance Your Profession."
3. From the "Profession Sub-Category" field, select "Volunteering", then select "Continue".
4. From the "Type of Volunteering Activity" field, select "HR Survey Participation" as an option and provide the dates you started and completed the survey.
